The App
The Eco30 mobile and web application will serve as the primary interface through which community members engage in the ecosystem. The app will host a directory of new and ongoing projects that users can browse and invest into. The app will display detailed information and statistics about the projects, including maps, tree counts, stand health, carbon offsets, and other relevant details. The app will also provide all of the basic user profile and communication features of a social network. For investors, tree planters, drone operators, and all the other participants in the ecosystem, the app will serve as a central hub to meet, communicate about impact and best practices, and to conduct detailed analysis based on the data provided by the network.
ECO30 Token
The Eco30 Token is an ERC-20 token that is operated on the Polygon layer 2 EVM chain. Eco30 Tokens are a reference token for future carbon offsets, with each one being worth 1 ton of CO2 offset. Eco30 tokens will be minted as new projects are approved within the ecosystem and distributed to stakeholders as projects are funded and completed. These tokens are Immutable Carbon Offsets, ICOs, with each one being representative of true, verified carbon offsets in the ecosystem.
The price of the Eco30 token will vary according to market demand and we anticipate that ICOs will demand a market premium over typical carbon offsets because of their verifiability and traceability. Token holders will have the benefit of participating in the governance of the DAR and being eligible for community rewards.
QR Supported Supply Chain
Our system tracks trees every step of the way from seed harvest to maturity to ensure the reliability of the data in our system. Forest engineers, nursery operators, and tree planters will scan QR codes through the app to track individual trees and create an immutable record of their lifecycle. The database that is generated through this process is a very valuable component of the ecosystem. For example, if a certain batch of trees has very low survival rates, we will be able to track exactly where the seeds came from, which nurseries they were processed in, and understand the root cause of the issue.
With the power of that information, we will be able to inform the network appropriately, avoid making the same mistakes repeatedly, and optimize practices across the ecosystem for maximum impact. This system will also allow us to appropriately compensate everyone who participated in the generation of the offset according to their contributions.
Drones and AI Computer Vision
Drone mapping is a key component to our solution stack. With drones we can efficiently and accurately count individual trees far better than the standard practice of sending humans into the forest to count and calculate. These drones will be powered by AI that automates their flight path, which will make it incredibly easy for drone operators to visit a site and within a couple of clicks initiate the drone verification procedure. Additionally these drones will be powered with AI computer vision which allows them to count trees to 95% accuracy, and also to measure growth and assess health. With the open source tools that will be available, anyone with a drone can register to become a validator on the network.
Token holders and land owners will set bounties for the verification of various projects and drone operators will be able to earn an income for their contributions. The AI will also be able to identify sick and dead trees at early stages which can be informative for any interventions that might be needed in order to protect the forests as a whole. By providing qualitative and quantitative measures of forest health, the overall system will become more effective.
Decentralized Autonomous Registry
The Decentralized Autonomous Registry, or βDARβ, is the core of the Eco30 ecosystem. The DAR will be responsible for maintaining the liquidity and resilience of the network. The DAR will be decentrally governed by the token holders and governance council according to the standards of the charter. The charter will be composed by the founding team, who will serve as the first council members, until such time as they delegate that responsibility to others. New members will be nominated to the council according to the processes defined by the charter. The DAR will determine exchange rates dynamically and in real time based on the market demand for CO2 offsets and tokens, and the supply of reforestation, biodiversity, and conservation projects. The DAR will prove its socioeconomic model using the tree planting as its first vertical, and will expand over time to include other key regenerative practices such as restoring coral reefs, producing sustainable energy, and remediating contaminated environments.
The DAR will govern the vaults and smart contracts that operate the functions of the Eco30 ecosystem. This includes the minting and distribution of new tokens, the tracking, verification, and funding of offset projects, the contracts and agreements between parties, and the overall lifecycle of projects and offsets. The DAR will set bounties for developers, validators, and auditors of its processes and systems and will pay those bounties from the vault. The vault and the ecosystem funds will be managed and operated by a committee who will be nominated and overseen by the council. The committee will be composed of council members, community members, and independent consultants, all of whom will be entitled to compensation as determined and approved by the council. Each layer of governance shall have an independent code of conduct, defined algorithmically at its inception and modulated only by supermajority or consensus.
The DAR will form partnerships and agreements with various entities such as national and local governments, and private corporations and foundations. This will allow the DAR to operate in an official capacity at multinational levels, certifying the carbon offsets and other ESG tokens at the highest standards available. The DAR was founded in Costa Rica, where the first pilot projects and government partnerships were formed. These working models serve as prototypes for the global expansion that the DAR will take on. At every expansion, the DAR will adapt according to the local laws, standards, and requirements of the governing agencies. For governments who choose to participate in our ecosystem, we will provide the highest standards of integrity and value for carbon offset and other ESG projects, as well as connect them directly to other multinational stakeholders who are working collaboratively towards the same ends.
